Jodie Kidd has taken two rounds of laser surgery for her eye in order to properly correct her vision. She has always been short-sighted, like most people, and there were a lot of things that she could not fully enjoy, such as the handsomeness of her husband, David Blakely, former soldier and part-time model.
Her laser eye surgery was successful, which she had only two months before she and her now-husband decided to get married. This means that she was able to see her husband very clearly on their big day.
Jodie Kidd had her first round of laser eye surgery while her sight was still starting to get even worse. This means that she had to use her thick glasses again at the age of 23 years old.
She explained, "I could hardly have walked down the aisle wearing my glasses or spent the day worrying about getting make up in my contact lenses. My wedding was such a perfect day and one of the lovely things about it was that I was able to see."
Jodie Kidd then added, "This may sound funny to people who haven't had to deal with wearing glasses and contacts, but it meant so much to me. Being able to relax and enjoy the day, and my honeymoon, too, without waking up each day fumbling around for glasses, was just amazing."
She only realized that she had problems with her eyesight when she was only 12 years old. She went to an optician and was told that she was short-sighted. She was instructed to wear glasses, but as a keen equestrienne, they oftentimes ended up steaming or fell off her face while she was on her horse. They ended up costing her more since she had to replace them all the time.
Jodie Kidd also had a similar problem at school with lacrosse and hockey. Her problems continued until she opted to start to wear contacts when she reached 15 years old.
