Todd Gurley returned to practice just as expected even though he was not cleared to play. Gurley has been under an indefinite suspension as Georgia investigates possible violations of NCAA rules.
According to Georgia linebacker Ramik Wilson "It looked good to see him out there. He was running hard, practicing hard and still supporting his teammates. We're ready for him to be cleared and get back out there."
Gurley missed practice Thursday after the program announced an ongoing NCAA investigation into an allegation that he accepted money for autographed memorabilia -$400 for 80 pieces.
Last Monday, cornerback Damian Swann and fullback Quayvon Hicks answered questions from the media. Swann said "I can't really talk about that. We're going to leave that to Coach Richt."
While Wilson said that it as good to see Gurley practicing with team again saying"[He's] still supporting his teammates. We are just ready for him to get clear and get back out there with us."
But he repeated that the team would be able to win despite not having Gurley. He said "This is not a one-man team. It's not all about Todd. It's 11 dudes on offense and 11 dudes on defense, giving their all and 100 percent, too."
While coach Mark Richt was happy seeing Gurley. He said "Today was a good start to the week. he scouts gave us a great look on offense, defense and special teams. I thought we showed great energy and tempo again tonight as we started to feed them the game plan."
Quarterback Hutson Mason, who completed 22 of 28 passes for 156 yards with a touchdown against Missouri said that they are motivated to win because of Gurley.
He lamented "Todd is a big part of our offense, and I know he is one of the best players in the country. But we had a chip on our shoulder as far as we don't have Todd and everyone thinks that the world is falling apart."
He adds "So we took it upon ourselves that we need to show everybody that there are 10 other guys on our offense that are making this thing go, and 11 other guys on defense. It was a very big inspirational win, and a lot of emotions went into it."
