As of this morning, there were reportedly a total of 8,914 Ebola cases and 4,447 deaths reported to the World Health Organization, stated WHO Assistant Director-General Dr. Bruce Aylward, according to CNN.

A pharmaceutical firm in China is now claiming to have developed a cure for Ebola and has reportedly partnered with a research branch of the Chinese military to push the new drug through the approval process and to market, according to the media outlet UPI.

The drug, JK-05, was reportedly developed by researchers at the pharmaceutical firm Sihuan Pharmaceutical Holdings. The company has reportedly partnered with the Institute of Microbiological Epidemiology, a part of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences.

JK-05 was reportedly approved for emergency use only earlier this month, but drug makers believe that the drug is ready for wider use to help cure those who have been infected with the virus. The drug has reportedly been in various stages of testing for the last five years and has performed strongly during preclinical trials and safety tests.

Sihuan management reportedly stated that the firm is actively working towards clinical tests of the drug, according to website abc.net.

"We believe that we can file to the Chinese Food and Drug Administration before the end of the year. They are looking at this very seriously and we could get on the 'green light' track," Sihuan's chairman Che Fengsheng told Pharma File.

JK-05 has reportedly been successfully in curing diseases such as influenza and yellow fever.
