"Brooklyn Nine Nine" season 2 spoilers reveal that Nick Cannon, the host of "America's Got Talent" and Mariah Carey's estranged husband, has landed a recurring role in the comedy series. This is part of the show's effort to delve more into the background of Captain Holt.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, dishing out "Brooklyn Nine Nine" season 2 spoilers, fans would get a better idea of why Captain Holt is the way he is. His backstory has been touched before as a survivor of the police force back when being gay was frowned upon.

With the introduction of "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon, fans will be introduced to another family member who can give an insight into the character of Captain Holt.

"Cannon will recur as Marcus, Holt's charming and educated nephew who just moved to the city and will stay with his uncle until he finds his own place. Cannon will make his debut in December," it said.

Nick Cannon's Marcus is described by the Variety's "Brooklyn Nine Nine" season 2 spoilers as "a handsome, educated and charming young man."

Adam Samberg earlier explained to Entertainment Weekly that Brooklyn is giving the show another character.

"We've talked a lot about how part of the joy of setting the show in Brooklyn is exploring the very real-life hipster subculture in Brooklyn, or I guess, above-subculture at this point. This dives into that and shows a little of that heightened hyper-foodie world-the exaggerated, less-savory side," he said.

Previously, co-executive producer Dan Goor talked "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 2 spoilers to The Backlot when he said that Captain Holt's mother will make an appearance in the show in the future.

The website said that Holt's mother is definitely a judge since the captain addressed her as "your honor" in one of their phone conversations.
