A single mistake, may it be your own or somebody else's, can turn worlds upside down. That's exactly what happens to Jane Gloria Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez).

'Jane The Virgin' starts out with a voice over introducing a 10-year-old Jane being lectured by her abuela about purity and virginity through a flower.

"Crumple the flower, Jane. Now try to make it look new again. Go on, try," Jane's grandma says in Spanish.

When Jane fails at making the ruined flower whole again, her abuela continues, "You can never go back. And that's what happens when you lose your virginity. You can never go back. Never forget that Jane."

Needless to say, Jane the Virgin never forgot.

13 years later, Jane is still a virgin even after two years of dating Michael Cordero (Brett Dier), a detective who seems to be the perfect gentleman but looks to be hiding some secret.

Then there's Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni)- a wealthy hotel owner, cancer survivor and former playboy. He's also Jane's first kiss. Just to make the world smaller, Jane works in the hotel that Rafael now owns.

Enter Rafael's sister, Dr. Luisa Alver, whose discovery of her wife's infidelity compromises her reasoning and general mental health during Jane's routine check-up. She accidentally inseminates Jane with Rafael's only sperm sample that was supposed to be for his wife Petra (Yael Groblas).

Two weeks later, Petra isn't pregnant but Jane definitely is.

Now Jane has to decide whether to keep the baby and ruin her carefully laid-out plans or decide not to go through with it. A conversation with her mother and later on, with her grandmother helps her decide to keep the baby.

As it turns out, her missing father is also the telenovela star that she idolizes. How will she react when they finally meet?

The premiere has certainly gained viewers attention - successfully establishing the characters, their quirks, and the story's world in a funny but sweet way. It also left plenty of room for the story to develop and mysteries to be solved, including Jane's relationship with her father, Petra's deception, and Michael's secret.

'Jane The Virgin' airs every Monday on the CW. Keep on reading KDramaStars for a 'Jane The Virgin' recap every week!
