Adviser for Jameis Winston family said that the quarterback has complied with the first deadline in Florida State's code of conduct hearing process.
According to Lawyer David Cornwell "Winston will cooperate with the procedure but will not waive our right to challenge any aspect of this process."
It can be remembered that Winston was accused by a female student of sexual assault last Dec 2012. Winston is facing a hearing to determine whether four sections of the code of conduct have been violated - two for sexual misconduct and two for endangerment.
Cornwell as requested for the phone records of the woman who filed the case. He has also requested for the record from the code of conduct hearing involving football players Chris Casher and Ronald Darby. He has also asked for the statements given by woman with regards to the case.
According to the woman's lawyer, John Clune, Cornwell is making the case a media circus.
Clune said "We would think his client has had enough of that lately. Sides will get the same information from the school, both will be able to testify, and the judge will decide. We are not going to allow a whole new disciplinary process just for Jameis Winston."
On the other hand, Florida State athletic director Stan Wilcox said that the university is reviewing whether or not Winston received improper benefits from a large number of autographs being sold online.
He said "At this time we have no information indicating that he accepted payment for items reported to bear his signature, thereby compromising his athletic eligibility. "'We have kept both the conference office and the NCAA apprised of our efforts on this matter. The University takes very seriously any and all allegations of potential rules violations and processes them in accordance with ACC and NCAA policies and procedures."
Coach Jimbo Fisher lauded Winston for being able to focus and excel in the field despite the challenges he is facing saying "He can put things away like a man does, compartmentalize things, take care of his teammates, take care of his family and take care of everyone because he's very mature,'' Fisher said. ''And the reason he can do that is he knows the facts."
