'Divergent' star Shailene Woodley has been losing her virginity onscreen for awhile now!
The 'Fault In Our Stars' actress opened up about her intimate scenes during the 'White Bird In A Blizzard' premiere at New York City's Landmark Sunshine Cinemas last Wednesday.
"I've lost my virginity four times onscreen - I'm a pro at it, apparently!" She told Hollywood Reported. Her most notable sex scenes happened with co-stars Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort in 'The Spectacular Now' and 'The Fault In Our Stars' respectively.
The 22-year-old actress also revealed that the reason why she's so "keen" in doing intimate scenes that "feel real" is that she personally doesn't think "losing your virginity is a fun experience."
She added, "It's not glamorous - for some people, I think it is, but it wasn't for a lot of people on this planet - so for me, it was a matter of, if we're gonna do a scene that deals with that, it's not gonna be, 'Her back arches and she gasps in excitement.' No, no, it's gonna be messy and it's gonna be real."
Despite jokingly calling herself an "expert" in the particular intimate scene, she still felt awkward about shooting the scene in 'White Bird In A Blizzard' with co-star Shiloh Fernandez.
She reportedly told Page Six, "It's always an awkward situation when you have to pretend to be intimate with someone that you're not actually intimate with ... I think the awkwardness probably lends itself to these great virginity scenes."
When it comes to losing one's virginity in real life, the 'Fault In Our Stars' star think people "feel pressured into it" because of society.
Shailene Woodley explained to Hollywood Reporter, "So when they actually get the deed done, they don't feel any sort of satisfaction because it wasn't for themselves. It was for others in a way."
Shiloh Fernandez also added, "Virginity - the idea of what it is and what it used to represent - is so different, and I wish that there was some pure thing that is still represented, but I don't think it's it anymore. "
He continued, "This isn't necessarily the most clean or natural thing that we want it to be or we dream it to be. It doesn't mean that it tarnishes you or makes you dirty, whatever that is. It's about love and connection and growing as a human being."
Shailene Woodley will be appearing alongside Shiloh Fernandez and Eva Green in 'White Bird In A Blizzard' that's due out in limited theaters on October 24. It's also already available in iTunes and VOD.
