Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's marriage has long been under fire, and the country star has addressed issues in her latest interview. In an interview with Huffington Post UK, the "I Need You" singer spoke about being "a Southern girl who made mistakes".

The Grammy winner claimed she is tired of people who overlook her music and instead focuses on making a "soap opera" out of her life.

"It's been just one giant soap opera," Leann Rimes said. "It's great that I sell magazines for these people. It's insane. I don't know how they get away with it.

She explained: "It's sad to say I've got used to people being arseholes. I've built up a thick skin. But my music has been overshadowed. I don't want it to be like that, and I can change it, but I have to create music to do it."

Unfortunately, Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's marriage have overshadowed her music for the past couple of years.

Huffington Post UK recalled how Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's marriage was judged from the beginning since the two allegedly hooked up while they were still married to their former partners. The country singer was then married to actor Dean Sheremet, while Eddie Cibrian was then married to "Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills" cast member Brandi Glanville.

Aware that her decisions may have disappointed a lot of people, Leann Rimes defended her and Eddie Cibrian's marriage. "I think that's the story: a little southern girl who grew up," she dismissed.

The singer pointed out: "You make mistakes, you live your life, and somewhere along the way, the myth was shattered, and you didn't even realise there was one to shatter. I try to stand up for myself when I can, when a different spin gets put on everything."

"Only the people who know me know the truth. That's all that matters to me," Leann Rimes said.

In closing, the country star said she is relieved that her recent reality show somewhat showed their side of the controversial story. Leann Rimes told Huffington Post UK: "It would give us a chance to take our lives back. And I think it did change perceptions."

"It turns out I'm NOT a pill-popping queen, sorry to let everyone down," she scoffed.
