Gennady Golovkin's next fight will likely be against a bigger-named opponent after his victory on Saturday night. "GGG" however, expressed interest in facing two marquee fighters: Miguel Cotto then Canelo Alvarez

The fate of Gennady Golovkin's next fight solely relies on his second round knockout victory over Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It not only marks "GGG's" fighting debut on California soil, but it was also his 28th straight knockout victory as he continues to hold an unblemished 31-0 record.

Golovkin also defended both his WBA and IBO middleweight titles for the 12th straight time. These feats have led promoter Tom Loeffler to believe that his fighter is now in the running to face the winner of the likely match-up between Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in 2015.

"This puts Gennady in for a mandatory [fight] with the winner of that [likely] fight," Loeffler said in a report by ESPN.

"Gennady is not going to pull any punches," he continued. "Rubio went 12 rounds with [Julio Cesar] Chavez Jr. and you saw he went two rounds with Gennady. He's at a whole different level than anyone else in the middleweight division."

Loeffler also opened another possibility for Gennady Golovkin's next fight, as he brought the name of former champion Julio Cesar Chavez's name to the table.

"Unless Chavez agrees to fight him on pay-per-view. Then we'll change our plans," he said.

At a relatively young age of 32, Gennady Golovkin has barreled through every opponent thrown at him. While he has yet to make his debut at boxing's big stage, "GGG" is confident about his chances moving forward. The soft-spoken Kazakh superstar even named the opponents he intends to face next.

"I will fight anybody," Golovkin confidently said. "I think first Miguel Cotto. I respect Canelo, he is good, but Chavez, too. But first Miguel Cotto."
