Sony Xperia Z3 vs. Samsung Galaxy s5 : In the IFA Berlin 2014 last month, Sony launched Xperia Z3. Galaxy s5 was a little older as it was released earlier this year (April). Which is the better smartphone?
Dust and Water Resistant Rating
If s5 won over Z2 in terms of IP rating, Z3 "took revenge" as it gets a little higher at IP68 (s5 is IP67). If the Samsung handset is "protected from immersion between 15 centimeters and 1 meter in depth", the latest Sony flagship phone is "protected from long term immersion up to a specified pressure".
Now, why is it important to consider the unit's resistance to water? It is because being submerged to water is one of the most common issues users deal with.
As for the dust-proof rating, both phones received the same rating (6 - the first digit of the two numbers refers to the level of protection from dust), which means Z3 and s5 are "protected from total dust ingress".
Screen
It's no secret that Samsung makes use of a display technology that takes lead in the market with its 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). The Z3 is a little bigger with 5.1-inch IPS LCD but with similar full HD resolution.
Per review, s5's brightness and contrast is a winner as the user will not find it difficult to read even when outdoors or even with direct sunlight. Because of this, Sony made Z3 50% brighter than Z2. Z3 then excels in color reproduction than s5. But this cannot discount that people appreciate the saturated colors of s5.
Sony Xperia Z3 vs. Samsung Galaxy s5: Which one is the winner when it comes to camera?
Camera
According to the specs provided, Z3 camera is packed with 20.7 megapixels and MP Sony Exmor sensor. The s5, on the other hand, has 16-megapixel ISOCELL sensor. One website says that Samsung is consistent with its phones boasting of great cameras. Z1 and Z2 cameras were not very impressive but it is worth noting that Sony did make an improvement with Z3.
