"Ghostbusters 3" is definitely happening and we already confirmed the director of the reboot. Paul Feig, who is known for directing "The Heat" and "Bridesmaids" was chosen to work on the third sequel. He made the announcement on Twitter. The 52-year old director wrote, "It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."
That announcement confirmed the rumors that the new "Ghostbusters" movie will have an all-female cast. Bill Murray, who starred as Peter Venkman in the previous films, really liked the idea of having women headline "Ghostbusters 3". He told David Letterman, "I think it'd be swell. I would go watch that one in a second."
Letterman asked him who would be in it. He replied, "I think you would want some funny girls, and some action girls." Murray first revealed his former co-star, "I think Melissa McCarthy is very funny." He continued spilling out names, "I like Emma Stone...I think she's funny as heck. I think my friend Linda Cardellini could be an action hero and funny."
The 64-year old actor later on asked names from the crowd as to whom they wanted to see in "Ghostbusters 3". The crowd shouted Kristen Wiig and he said: "She's really funny." Watch the interview of Bill Murray in "The Late Show with David Letterman":
In a separate interview with The Star, Bill Murray seemed to have finalized his list of lead stars for the reboot. He said, "Melissa McCarthy (The Heat) would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) is so funny - God, she's funny!" He added, "I like this girl Linda Cardellini (Mad Men) a lot. And Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) is funny. There are some funny girls out there."
I'm sure you're wondering how the girls feel about being handpicked by the original star of "Ghostbusters". Kristin Wiig revealed to Yahoo Movies, "That's very flattering." She added, "I will do whatever Bill Murray tells me to."
Emma Stone was also honored by that gesture and told MTV, "That's pretty nice." She star of "Birdman" explained, "Do you remember that scene in Zombieland where we're the Ghostbusters, and I got to say Slimer was on the ceiling? But that wasn't being a Ghostbuster. That was being Annie Potts."
What do you think of Bill Murray's choice of female starts for "Ghostbusters 3"?
