Manny Pacquiao news reveals the mixed reactions of people regarding "Pacman's" professional basketball debut. His opponent Chris Algieri, specifically, does not mind the Filipino champ's extra-curricular activities as long as he won't get hurt in the process.

On Sunday (Manila Time), the eight-division world champion played his first game as a professional basketball player for the KIA Sorento expansion team of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Unfortunately for "Pacman", his debut was not as glamorous as perceived, as he was scoreless for his seven minutes of play, committing two turnovers in the process.

Manny Pacquiao news also reveals that as his next fight against Chris Algieri is only a month away, the KIA team management opted to sit him out for their upcoming game against crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Saturday, October 25th.

Pacquiao's sudden decision to actually have himself drafted and suit up for a professional basketball league in his home country has garnered mixed reaction from some members of the media.

For award-winning journalist Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, it is not a very good idea.

"Pacquiao said after the game that he would stick to his coaching duties and not play until after the fight, but it was incredibly arrogant of Pacquiao to even attempt play pro basketball so close to a major fight," Iole wrote.

Bad Left Hook's Scott Christ, on the other hand, found the satire out of the situation.

"Pacquiao will now take a break from the team, which will allow him to focus on that thing he does that has made him wealthy and famous and beloved, and allowed him the time to opportunity to play basketball terribly for supplemental income and kicks and giggles, living out his fantasies as the third-string point guard."

Manny Pacquiao news also reveals opponent Chris Algieri's reaction about the said issue.

"A lot of people ask me about his basketball and if that's what he chooses to do, that's fine," Algieri replied." As long as he doesn't get hurt, I don't really care."
