Which device is the better purchase? We compare the HTC Desire 516 and the Motorola Moto E to see which device is better.
In terms of design and display, both smatphones have displays that support the same resolution of 540x960pixels, but there’s a big difference in terms of sizes. The HTC Desire 516 has a 5 inches screen with a 220ppi pixel density, while the Motorola Moto E comes with a 4.3 inches display which supports 256ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The dimensions of the HTC unit are 140x72x9.7 mm and it weighs 160 grams, while the Motorola unit is 124.8x64.8x12.3 mm and it weighs 142 grams.
For the hardware and OS, both smartphones are powered by a Cortex A7 processor, but the HTC unit has a quad core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, while the Moto E has a dual core CPU with the same clock speed. Also, both of them share the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset and use an Adreno 302 GPU. They also host 1GB of Ram and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB.
What differentiates these models is the Android OS version. The HTC Desire 516 runs on the v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), while the Motorola Moto E comes loaded with v4.4.2 (KitKat), which it can be upgraded to the 4.4.4 (KitKat) version.
For battery and camera specs, the HTC Desire 516 has a removable Li-Po 1950mAh battery with 9 hours of talk time on 3G, while the Motorola Moto E has a non removable Li-Ion 1980mAh battery.
Both smartphones have cameras on the back with the resolution of 5MP with 2592х1944pixels and geo tagging as mutual features. The HTC Desire 516 has in addition LED flash and video recording at 720p@30fps, plus a 2MP secondary camera, while the Motorola Moto E features HDR, panorama and video recording at fw480p@30fps and doesn’t have a secondary camera.
The HTC Desire 516 costs $229 on amazon.com, the Motorola Moto E cost only $130.
