Good news RE fans as new updates for the final Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter have been revealed.
It seems that the plot details of movie have been revealed online as Hallels.com reports that the plot of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will feature Alice (Milla Jovovich) teaming up with Albert Wesker, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, and possibly another clone of Rain Ocampo to take down the Red Queen to save the human race from extinction.
Collider has reported before that Paul W.S. Anderson will be writing the script for the Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title. It may end up being the final title, but that's what's written on the front page of my script... I'm right in the middle of [the first draft]."
Anderson adds that there is no scheduled date for the production to start as well as a release date of the film.
"There are no set dates for shooting yet. I think we're waiting until we have a first draft screenplay and then go from there... I don't know [when it will be in theaters], depends how fast I write, I guess. There's no set date yet but hopefully we'll have an announcement for that soon."
It was reported that Sony will have plans of rebooting the Resident Evil franchise as Paul W.S. Anderson will work on another video game movie, Assassin's Creed. Anderson made a statement regarding the Resident Evil movies.
"... As you probably know, when we set up the first movie, we didn't even have an American deal for the first film until half way through principal photography. It was a movie that was entirely financed internationally and Sony only kind of distributed it in North America... Because at the time, it as a movie that no one really wanted, that no one was excited about, it was based on a video game and for a while there, since Mortal Kombat, there hadn't been any successful video game adaptations. Although, me returning to that genre obviously gave it a better chance than most. There was still skepticism about whether that was the kind of valid thing to do to [turn] video games to movies. It was quite soon after Columbine, so it was a video game that was known to be very violent and there was a big backlash against that, and I wanted to make it an R-rated movie and that was very unfashionable at the time..."
BleedingCool has reported that new characters will join the film, and these are Jack Krauser, HUNK and Sherry Birkin. This all happened when an allege Resident Evil Facebook fan page conducted a survey to see which Resident Evil characters should join the last movie.

Meanwhile, there have rumors that the final Resident Evil movie is somehow connected to the Resident Evil 7 video game.
When Resident Evil 7 was rumored a few years back, one of the most popular theories going on at the time was the return of Resident Evil main villain, Albert Wesker.
This theory was "confirmed" when an alleged employee of Capcom tweeted about Albert Wesker's voice actor going in to the studio to record lines for his character and that they are planning to add Alice from the Resident Evil movies to be a playable character in the game and that Alice would be voiced by Milla Jovovich herself.
But Cyberland claimed that Capcom released a statement about Alice not being included in Resident Evil official canon. It was speculated that it could be because Resident Evil 7 would see the return of Albert Wesker but that can't happen as he's been officially confirmed to be dead by Capcom but in the movies, he has survived. Wesker's VA DC Douglas has denied being contacted by Capcom for RE 7, but an alleged Capcom employee confirmed that he has been in the studio for recording which means that Wesker is in Resident Evil 7 along with Jovovich voicing Alice in the game.
Cinemablend has reported that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will shown in 2016.
