When 'Game Of Thrones' Star Kit Harington's hair drastically shortened in the trailer for 'Testament Of Youth,' some fans worried for Jon Snow's fate.
Avid viewers of the HBO show have been so used to the wild mane of curls and beard that the 27-year-old maintained since season one. With the series known for killing off main characters without regret, people started wondering if he was killed off due to the drastic change in his image for the 'Testament Of Youth.'
Luckily, Kit Harington himself expounded on the mystery of his new 'do at the worldwide premiere of the World War I film.
He revealed to Reuters via Wetpaint that he was, in fact, wearing a wig for the movie!
Pointing to his dark curls, he said, "this hair ain't going anywhere until I finish 'Thrones.'"
He also explained that he's contractually obligated to keep it long and flowing.
"I'm not allowed to cut it," he explained. He does have to trim it and keep it manageable but it "has to be back to the length it's meant to be for 'Thrones' every year."
With rumors of the show projected for eight seasons, 'Game Of Thrones' Star Kit Harington will have to keep his hair long and curly for a few more years (assuming that he'll last until the end of the series).
When asked why he had to shave his beard and wear a shorter wig for 'Testament of Youth,' the 'Pompeii' star said that he had to do it for "a different look."
"I needed to look 19..." he explained. "Hopefully, I can pull that off still when I've got no beard or long hair."
Harington needed to portray a young poet who has to leave behind the love of his life to fight in the first World War. As Roland Leighton, he falls in love with Vera Brittain (Alicia Vikander) but has to forsake his youth to fulfil his duty to the country.
The film, based on Vera Brittain's memoirs, is a "testament to love," "to hope" and "to youth."
'Testament of Youth' premiered worldwide last October 14. The movie also stars Emily Watson, Dominic West, and Hayley Atwell and will be shown in UK theaters early next year, according to Cosmopolitan.
Should 'Game Of Thrones' star Kit Harington keep his hair long and unruly or does he look better with a shorter, cleaner cut?
