Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors reveal that the Steve Nash injury will hurt the team going forward as the squad released Roscoe Smith and Jabari Brown to bring the roster to just 15.
Prior to the Steve Nash injury, the team had a three-guard rotation composing of the two-time MVP, Jeremy Lin and rookie Jordan Clarkson. There's also veteran Ronnie Price, who also suffered a knee injury in the preseason match against the Sacramento King, as backup.
"Obviously it hurts," coach Byron Scott said in the Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors by ESPN. "I think we feel more for Steve than anybody because I saw how hard this kid worked out all summer long to be ready for the season."
"For him to be out hurts the team, because he's obviously the best point guard that we have and one of the best that's ever played the game. I know it hurts him because this is something he wants to do. He loves playing basketball. Like I said, I feel more for him than anything else," the coach added.
The former Lakers Showtime member also lamented the fact that he wasn't able to coach Steve Nash, whom he called one of his most favorite people, in a game situation.
Meanwhile, he said that the Steve Nash injury will give more opportunity for Jeremy Lin and Jordan Clarkson to prove their worth.
In other Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors from NBA.com, the team waved forward Roscoe Smith and guard Jabari Brown.
