Dana White believes that Conor McGregor's next fight will be a tough one, but he also guaranteed a title shot for "The Notorious" if he comes out victorious.
Conor McGregor's next fight is scheduled against top ten featherweight Dennis Siver in January at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. It will look to be an advantage for McGregor since Boston is known for its large Irish population and influence.
While a good number of fans and even "The Notorious" himself has already counted out Siver, Dana White, on the other hand, chose to give the German kickboxer a fighting chance.
"A lot of people are dismissing Siver and saying this fight is ridiculous," White said during the UFC 179 post-fight press conference. Siver knows exactly what happens if he comes in and beats Conor McGregor. It's a huge win for him; you know he's going to take the fight serious and he's going to come in to try and win, so there's no sense in really even talking about the Aldo fight."
The making of Conor McGregor's next fight against Dennis Siver stemmed from a mini word war between the two combatants. After McGregor called out the entire featherweight division through a series of tweets, it was met by an unlikely response from "The Menace", which came along with a photo of Muppet character "Oscar the Grouch" wearing a suit.
"@TheNotoriousMMA Nice suit u #lametrashtalker #OscarMcGregor #GoldDigger #Goblin @danawhite @ufc @lorenzofertitta," Siver tweeted.
While Dana White stressed the importance of Conor McGregor's next fight against Dennis Siver, he also promised that the brash Irishman will be next in line to face reigning champion José Aldo if he does come out victorious.
"But if (McGregor) should win, we would definitely be interested in making that fight," White added. "But this has to happen first. Let the Siver fight happen first, and we'll see how everything else plays out."
