The "Terminator: Genesis" release date is pegged for July 1, 2015, and it's not the reboot fans expect, according to its lead.
"Terminator: Genesis" is actually titled with the misspell: its lead actor Jai Courtney, offers a spoiler of sorts on "Terminator: Genisys" plot.
Courtney plays the role of Kyle Reese on the movie, who helps out Sarah Connor on the first movie, and the man who turned out to be John Connor's father.
A Huffington Post interview doesn't reveal much on how the movie will unfold, but Courtney insists it won't be a reboot, even if Arnold Schwarzenegger himself will reprise his role as the good (or bad) automaton.
"What I can say is that we start in a place we're familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change. It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point. It's not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don't even know how you brand it correctly. We're not remaking one of the early 'Terminator' movies. And it doesn't necessarily carry on from the point where we left off."
"Terminator: Genesis" could throw plenty of curve balls in plot, and it's even possible Arnold's character could be totally human, or at the very least, a cyborg.
Co-starring with Courtney is "Game of Thrones" Emilia Clarke, who plays Sarah Connor (previously played by Linda Hamilton).
In addition to "Terminator: Genesis," "Terminator 5" is also a confirmed duology, at the very least. The first installment is out on theaters May 2017, followed by a sequel on June 2018. Both are reportedly planned to be produced back-to-back.
Arnold Schwarzenegger commented on the new installment to the franchise, and on the reprisal for his role.
Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back." (franchiseherald.com)
