The two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" release date has been confirmed with a string of Marvel movie releases.
The "Avengers: Infinity War" release date has been confirmed, as the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" trailer builds up anticipation for the 2015 launch. Tuesday's news conference has Marvel confirming plenty of films, most notably the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" movies.
Marvel's chief exec Kevin Feige lays out plans for the franchise, a string of films which stretch as far as 2019 in release dates. While most of the titles announced were already common knowledge to fans, confirmation for the Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and The Inhumans movies still came with a handful of new information.
Chadwick Boseman is confirmed for the role of the Black Panther; Boseman is notable in his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in 2013's "42," also James Brown in "Get On Up." The Black Panther movie is slated for a November 2017 release.
A bit surprising is news of a female lead for the Captain Marvel movie, the alter ego of Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel will screen July 2018.
The sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set on May 5, 2017; and third installments to Captain America (Civil War) and Thor is slated for May 6, 2016 and July 2017, respectively.
The big buzz at Tuesday's event, held at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre, was the go signal for a two-part "Avengers: Infinity War." With a Doctor Strange movie confirmed for November 4, 2016, Marvel plans to introduce the mystical to its cinematic universe.
Feige said Marvel's plans for the unveil was withheld until after others were confirmed.
"We wanted to do this at Comic-Con this year, and things were not set: 'Civil War' wasn't set; 'Guardians of the Galaxy' wasn't out yet. We're opening up an entire new corner of the (Marvel) cinematic universe: the mystical."
