Anderson Silva news reveals that "the Spider" will be coaching alongside Mauricio "Shogun" Rua for the next installment of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Brazil. Meanwhile, former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre believes Nick Diaz made a mistake in facing the former long-time middleweight champion at 185-pounds.
The only difference of this edition of TUF: Brazil is that Silva and Rua will not be facing each other after the series is over, which has been the tradition since the show began in 2005.
In an interview with Globo (which was reported by MMA Fighting), "The Spider" showed nothing but enthusiasm for his coaching debut for the long-running reality show.
"I think I can offer this next generation of Brazilian talent real insight into what it takes to succeed in the UFC," Silva said. "I will bring everything I know about the martial arts, and my own values of what it means to be a martial artist, to my team."
Rua, who happens to be former training partners with the former pound-for-pound mixed martial arts king, shares the same sentiment.
"Me and Anderson go a long way, training together back when we were both aiming to be stars, and to do this with him now on the biggest platform and having a chance to show people what MMA is really about is just amazing," said the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
Anderson Silva news also reveals former 170-pound champion Georges St-Pierre's opinions on "The Spider's" comeback fight against "MMA's bad boy" Nick Diaz. For "GSP", the fight would have been more benefitial for Diaz if he agreed to meet in the middle, instead of fighting at Silva's weight class.
Anderson Silva news reveals that St-Pierre's statements were made during his appearance on former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen's podcast titled "You're Welcome."
"To tell you the truth, I would maybe favor Diaz if the fight had been at a catchweight," Silva said. "Because if it is a five-round, Diaz is a very durable fighter. I have seen him in a lot of trouble and he is very, very hard to finish."
"Now it is different because it is in Anderson Silva's weight class," he added. "Which I believe Diaz made a mistake at accepting that fight at 185 instead of, I think he should have made a catchweight would have been more fair."
