In the last few years quite a few of the heroes and even some of the villains in k-dramas have been prosecutors.
"Pride and Prejudice," starring Choi Jin Hyuk and Baek Jin Hee, is the latest in the courtroom dramas to show prosecutors as avenging heroes. So far, the first episodes of this drama succeeded in bringing a few bad guys to justice while trying to sort out the romantic history of the main characters.
But should you like your melodramas or romances with a legal twist, here are a few more that we enjoyed:
"Prosecutor Princess": In this comedy Kim So Yeon played the fledgling prosecutor who assumes a stylish wardrobe and perfect figure are her most important career assets. Her new co-workers are not initially impressed by her fashion priorities but will come to respect her incredible memory and sharp legal mind. Co-worker Park Shi Hoo at first underestimates but eventually falls for her.
"Secret Love": This drama concerns an idealistic prosecutor who slowly loses his moral ground. Bae Soo Bin, who can now be seen in the comedy "The Greatest Marriage," plays the weak-willed prosecutor Ahn Do Joon. To save his career, he lets his girlfriend take the rap for his hit and run car accident. While she is in jail, she has his child, and he dumps her. His descent into darkness is slow and chilling. The melodrama also starred Hwang Jung Eum and Ji Sung.
"I Hear Your Voice": This courtroom drama starring Lee Bo Young, Lee Jong Suk, Yoon Sang Hyun and Lee Da Hee, not only had interesting courtroom drama but it featured a fantasy element. Lee Jong Suk's character has the ability to read minds and this helps public defender Lee Bo Young win cases. Lee Da Hee plays the prosecutor in this drama and Lee Bo Young's childhood enemy. Lee Da Hee's character initially starts out seeming like a spoiled, vengeful rich girl but becomes a very relatable character in the end. It was a breakthrough role for the actress.
"Vampire Prosecutor": In the theme of courtroom drama spiced up with a touch of the paranormal, we can't forget Yun Jung Hun as the undead prosecutor Min Tae Yeon. He rejects the life of a vampire and only drinks the blood of dead people, which allows him to see how they died. He uses this ability to prosecute those who think themselves above the law.
Although "Pride and Prejudice" does look like it will incorporate elements of comedy and drama into the plot, so far there are no mind readers or vampire prosecutors.
