Microsoft Windows 9 Beta Is Windows 10. According to news reports, Microsoft has said it will skip Windows 9 and go directly to Windows 10. Why is Microsoft skipping Windows 9?
Windows 10 will release by the middle of next year, Microsoft announced at a September 30 launch event. The Redmond-tech giant has also unveiled a Technical Preview of Windows 10. The Preview is geared towards tech and PC experts.
An update to the Windows 10 Technical Preview, Build 9860 unveiled on October 22 and comes with an notification center from Windows Phone, a battery saving , keyboard shortcut for app movement across scrrens, a data use monitor along with settings for Windows Insiders on obtaining new builds.
The Technical Preview ends on April 15 tentatively, but the exact release date for Windows 10 has not been disclosed. Windows 10 will work across Microsoft devices - that includes phones that are outfitted with 'universal' apps.
Corporate VP for the Microsoft OS group, Joe Belfiore, commented that the 'different environment' for Windows 8 Modern apps became an issue for desktop and PC users. Those who use a mouse and keyboard will have a huge advantage due to their 'familiar UI.'
"To address that, using a new system dubbed Continuum, Windows 10 will automatically adjust itself depending on the type of device, offering a touch environment similar to the Start screen in Windows 8 for tablets and the standard desktop when a keyboard and mouse are present," PCPro reports. But phones using Windows 10 will not have the traditional desktop.
Windows 10 will enable users to have a number of desktops - 'personal', 'work', and 'project' desktops. In general, users will have the advantage of a familiar OS such as Windows 7 and also enable users to have a high level of functions from Windows 8.
