"Into The Forest" actress Ellen Page's new movie "Freeheld" found a new location for shoot after it was denied in a Catholic school. The "Juno" star's movie was banned because of its lesbian drama theme.
The 27-year-old "Inception" actress' newest movie offering "Freeheld" now has a location in lieu of the New York state Catholic school that banned them from filming their lesbian drama.
"Into The Forest" actress Ellen Page and co-star Julianne Moore should have filmed a scene in their movie inside the Catholic all-boys Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York, which would have served as a town hall.
However, in a report by the Daily Mail, producers received a notice that their permission was denied after the school principal said that the "subject matter" is not appropriate for the school's image.
"Freeheld" film producer Michael Shamberg then explained in his email reply to the school administrator that the film is not circling about gay marriage.
"It is about recognizing the dignity of a woman who was a brave civil servant," the film producer said.
Before the school banned the filming of some scenes, it has previously allowed shoots like music video and commercial advertisements.
The 53-year-old Julianne Moore plays as police detective Laurel Hester, who is seeking for her pension benefits for her domestic partner played by the "Into The Forest" actress Ellen Page.
Hester pushes for her civil rights after she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, The Guardian said in a report.
Meanwhile, the "Into The Forest" actress took to Twitter to reveal her opinion on the recent banning to shoot their film in the said school.
"Using religion to justify bigotry makes me sad," the "Into The Forest" actress Ellen Page said in her tweet.
She added, "Sending my support 2 the LGBT students at the school who I hope r able 2 find accept."
