Chrissy Teigen has had enough of Twitter. The cover girl of "Sports Illustrated" has publicly announced that she has decided to quit Twitter after she got loads of death threats just because she made an untimely online post on gun control.

The 28-year-old Teigen used to be a huge fan of Twitter. Taking a look at her social media posts, she was enamored by nearly everything, posting her comments about various items, from pop culture to food.

However, after she tweeted about the Ottawa shooting that happened on October 22nd, she suddenly turned into one of the most hated Twitter stars.

Chrissy Teigen is quite known for the witty posts that she posts on her social media accounts. This time, however, it would appear that the public was not too impressed when she made a bit of a dig about a recent shooting.

The shooting that Teigen was referring to was one that took place in downtown Ottawa, when the gunman, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, gunned down and killed Corporal Nathan Cirillo before opening fire in Parliament.

Chrissy Teigen commented on the incident and wrote, "Active shooting in Canada, or as well it in America, Wednesday. That's not a joke. It is a fact."

Whether it was a fact or not, people were not very happy with what she posted. The negative responses to her Twitter post, along with numerous threats to her life, came almost immediately after she posted her comment.

She did attempt to save herself from all the hate and explained why she wrote what she wrote. She said, "Sorry you don't understand that is a knock at America and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting." Sadly, however, it would appear that her "apology" was not enough to stop the barrage of angry replies.

The Twitter backlash on Chrissy Teigen is most likely the most brutal in the history of social media public backlashes. Her final tweet said, "I feel sick. Bye, Twitter. Taking my talents to Instagram."
