The latest "Ghostbusters 3" news isn't all about the cast since up to now the producers haven't revealed who they want to star in the film. What we know so far is that Paul Feig will be directing the movie and it will have an all-female cast. The sequel will turn out to be a reboot of the original "Ghostbusters" instead of a continuation of the last movie.
Bill Murray, who is known more for his role as Peter Venkman in the film series, spilled out some names of actresses that he wanted to see in the third installment. Included in the list are Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (The Heat), Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man), Linda Cardellini (Scooby-Doo), and Lena Dunham (Girls).
Upon hearing the "Ghostbusters 3" news that they were included in Bill Murray's wish list, some of these actresses felt honored but some just made fun of the idea. It is still unsure if Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz) or Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) will reprise their role, but both actors had showed interest in returning for another sequel.
Apart from Aykroyd and Hudson, the person responsible for the theme song of the "Ghostbusters" film series wanted to be part of the reboot too. If you're a huge Ghostbusters fan, then you would have grown up singing along to the song of Ray Parker Jr.
During an interview with KSite TV, the 60-year old singer talked about his music and "Ghostbusters 3". He said, "I would always be interested in creating music for it, but I hope they use the original song, because that's what I think people want to hear."
He also said, "We should be able to add some more music to it, but you know, what they usually do [is] they get around to music at the last moment for some strange reason." Parker Jr. revealed, "With the very first film, by the time they called me, they were done with the film. I actually want to know who do I call, because I'd like to be in this film!"
I guess the person that he has to call is Ivan Reitman since he will be producing "Ghostbusters 3". What do you think of this news? Do you want to hear Ray Parker Jr.'s song again for the reboot? Check out the music video below:
