"Star Wars Episode 7" spoilers rumors and news revealed that there's going to be an IMAX scene in the new film as director JJ Abrams claimed he couldn't pass up the chance to shoot in that format.

"The benefits outweigh the headache of shooting on Imax cameras," said the "Star Wars Episode 7" spoilers rumors and news from Variety magazine, per We Got This Covered.

"The opportunity to have an action sequence for this movie done in Imax's natural format was too delicious an idea to pass up. As a filmgoer, it's something I want to see," he added.

JJ Abrams didn't specify details about the IMAX scene, but the website claimed that it could revolve around "a chase sequence or one of the film's crucial scenes."

According to Screencrush, the "Star Wars Episode 7" spoilers rumors and news about shooting just one scene for IMAX might not be as exciting for fans.

"But it could still be a pretty huge sequence - who knows? Depending on how this works out for Abrams, maybe the next 'Star Wars' installments could feature more sequences shot in IMAX."

The Variety magazine noted that IMAX has changed the way people watch movies.

"Today, Imax has a $1.9 billion market cap, more than 800 theaters around the world and annual revenue of nearly $300 million. It turns down approximately five movies for every one it shows," the article noted. "Unlike high-end sound systems or 3D projectors, its brand is instantly recognizable to average consumers."

"Star Wars Episode 7" will open to theaters on December 18, 2015. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed that the production is only three weeks away from being finished.

"Once the cameras have stopped rolling the film will go into post-production. The footage will be edited, and special effects, sound and the score added ahead of a scheduled release in December 2015," The Week added.
