The 60-year-old ACDC drummer has been arrested for the charge murder-for-hire in New Zealand.
New Zealand news publication SunLive reported that Phil Rudd, 60, allegedly attempted to obtain murder of two men. The metal band's drummer was arrested Thursday in his Taraunga home which was raided at Thursday morning. After that, he appeared in Tauranga District Court and expected to reappear in court in three weeks.
Based on court documents obtained by SunLive, Rudd is accused of procuring the murder between September 25 and 26. During the raid, there were drugs found in his home.
Rudd joined the Australian band ACDC in 1975. He left the band in 1983 but rejoined in 1994 and has been with the band ever since.
In 2010, the drummer was charged for cannabis possession under his legal name, Phillip Witschke.
His band ACDC will release their new album, "Rock or Bust" after 2014. The band release their official statement regarding the issue on their official Facebook account:
"We've only become aware of Phil's arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil's absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year."
