The fastest selling console in the history of Australia is Playstation 4, based on the figures of its sales from NPD Group Australia.
In spite of its bumpy launch on Nov 29, 2013, the Playstation caught all the attention of the gamers to get them back and obtain their anticipated milestone.
In December 2013, Microsoft's Xbox One consoles had the biggest ever launch in Australian history, with 65,917 consoles purchased in three days, after the damaging shortage of PS4 before the Australian release, which viewed a lack of shipments of the console to local markets and Christmas stockings in the entire country.
After getting back on track in the console market by getting those games out to the consumers, the PS4 has been recognized the most favorite from Australian consumers.
Based on the report of the Australian NPD Group, "The Console Hardware category in Australia has more than doubled in value since release of 8th Generation Hardware in 2013. PlayStation 4 accounted for a substantial 44% of the total category value since its launch". Michael Ephraim, the managing director of Sony New Zealand and Australia, he is so happy with the outcome.
"As PlayStation powers into its twentieth year in Australia, we couldn't be happier with our position with PS4 at the top spot of the interactive entertainment industry," he further explained.
Sony reported in their quarterly financial report that they had delivered 3.3 million PS4 systems from July to September, making the total of 13.5 million shipped consoles globally since Nov 15 release in the U.S.
One that led to the success of the PS4 is the game Middle-earth:Shadow of Mordor, Minecraft and NBA2K15, Slender: The Arrival and Borderlands, and Minecraft's pre-quel. Freedom wars also made a very special launch on Vita, on October 28 to catch up with the other favorite games in PS4.
