"The Last: Naruto The Movie" will be a start of a new beginning. While Naruto manga is coming to a close with the upcoming final volume to be released on November 10, the story is going to continue despite the manga's end. According to The News Hub, franchise head and creator Japanese artist Masashi Kishimoto is continuing the tale of the titular ninja in a new project called "Naruto's New Era Opening." Saiyan Island noted that it is in the works for Spring 2015.

Reportedly, "The Last: Naruto The Movie" is the first of many works and projects for "Naruto's New Era Opening" which celebrates the series' 15th anniversary. According to Saiyan Island, the sequel will focus on the next generation featuring the children of Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Sasuke and others.

A full-length teaser has been released for "The Last: Naruto The Movie" that will hit theaters in Japan on December 6.

Shonen Jump previously revealed little more about this Sage of Six Paths descendant in a plot summary of the upcoming movie:

"The moon has begun moving closer to Earth! As it is, the moon will crumble and meteorites will rain down on Earth's surface. As the last days of Earth approach, Hanabi Hyūga is abducted by a mysterious man in Konoha, and Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Shikamaru, and Hinata set off on a rescue mission! Can Naruto and the others overcome this crisis?"

Reportedly, antagonist Toneri Ōtsutsuki "enacts a plan for the moon to crash into the earth as humanity's punishment for using chakra as a means to wage war and kill people. Naruto and the rest of the Rookie Eleven, minus Sasuke and Neji Hyuga, must stop Toneri before everyone gets killed."

"The Last: Naruto The Movie" is directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi and is said to be the first after it has launched the ninth film, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie which opened in Japan in July 2012 and became the highest grossing film in the franchise.
