Instagram went to a full-fledged social media dominatrix from a standard photo-editing app, in a matter of months! In this day and age, pictures are not just pictures anymore, they are called Instagrams. It does not mean anything unless it is Instagram. The Oxford Dictionary accepted the term "selfie" into its lexicon, and maybe they would take on Instagram as both a verb and a noun.
It seems that social media firms leverage more images than text now a days, like TwitPics of Twitter showing beyond a tweet instead of a link out. Ross Simmonds of Social Media Today said about the growing trend of the use of distributers and mega brands of the popular platform, "Storytelling is the glue to building stronger relationships with your audience and being unforgettable," he writes. And, to build off of that, it's images that yield the most power. There are thousands of power users on Instagram who influence culture and the buying behaviours of their networks. Identifying these people and paying to have them post about your brand is something that will become very common place in the upcoming year."
Well, the truth is, Facebook has not been like before since it piled its wall video and photo album features. Instagram gravitated to take control on the image envy/nostalgia that they lost when Facebook went up to the ladder of success and took a big chunk of the market share and MySpace -like photo sharing pictures. Social media oracles lead to some strong foundation. It is not going to totally channel our Facebook outlines in 2014 (of course! users want a focal point for all our Instagrams to exist on), but there's just somewhat more suitable about sharing users' lives via photos than there is with content. A photograph is significance a thousand words, right?
