How time flies! Ten years after it first hit theaters, a 'Mean Girls' cast reunion finally happened!
Who could have expected that ten years have passed since the plastics - Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Weiners (Lacey Chabert), and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried) - turned good girl Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) into one of the most powerful and shallowest girls in high school?
Since it first hit cinemas, the teenage drama film has become one of the genre's most iconic films, recognized by girls of all ages.
On its milestone anniversary, the four girls plus Tina Fey (who played their teacher Norbury) met up once again to reminisce about the good old days. They also shared some new information that fans would find fascinating.
"I wanted to play Regina," Lohan shared about the initial casting for the 'Mean Girls' plastics. "I had just played-in 'Confessions [Of A Teenage Drama Queen] and 'Freaky [Friday]'-not the cool girl in school. I was still 17 years old and I wanted to be the cool girl on set. So I had a war with [Lorne Michaels], and he goes, 'No, Cady is the heroine, and that's who you are.'"
It turns out, Lohan wasn't the only one who wanted to play the "deliciously wicked and borderline evil" Queen Bee. Amanda Seyfried also showed up during auditions to try out for the role. It eventually went to Rachel McAdams and clearly it was the right choice.
Ironically, McAdams actually auditioned for the role of Cady but executive producer Lorne Michaels thought she'd be perfect as Regina.
Lacey Chabert wasn't quite sure about her role either but she eventually learned to love Gretchen's character. Amanda Seyfried, on the other hand, was just so glad to be in the movie.
The girls didn't just reminisce in the 'Mean Girls' cast reunion, they also talked about their own character's possible future.
Seyfried thinks Karen would be selling "really cool dog attire, like Swarovski dog collars and Halloween costumes for animals."
Gretchen and Jason would be married with seven babies, Chabert believes. She would also have "very big curly hair" while running Toaster Strudels.
Cady, according to Lohan, would be friends with Oprah. She would also be settled down with her family in Africa "teaching girls to be nice to each other."
Meanwhile, McAdams sees Regina as a Real Housewife with too much time on her hands. "She's probably found all her other Reginas," she adds.
