The latest Cleveland Cavaliers news revolved around guard Dion Waiters snubbing the national anthem in adherence to his own religion, as well as the alleged tension between Lebron James and point guard Kyrie Irving.
In the Cleveland Cavaliers news from ESPN, Dion Waiters were nowhere to be round during the national anthem in the game against the Utah Jazz earlier this week.
Apparently, he stayed in the locker room during that whole time and only joined the team before the tipoff.
"It's because of my religion, that's why I stayed in the locker room," he told the Northeast Ohio Media Group later.
Dion Waiters is a devout Muslim, according to ESPN.
Curiously, in the game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night, Dion Waiters was back standing with the team during that national anthem.
When asked by reporters afterwards, he said: "I don't really want to talk about that. It's my religion. I don't really want to talk about that. I want to talk about basketball. I'm not being rude, but, you know."
Dion Waiters on Saturday took to Twitter to write: "Lol I wasn't going to even say anything about the situation but whoever made that up about me & the national anthem is a damn lie."
"I can't believe yall believe everything yall hear smh I guess ppl listen to anything now a days!!! I love everything about America!!!!!!!" he added.
Meanwhile, in other Cleveland Cavaliers news from blogsite Cleveland.com, Lebron James and Kyrie Irving both denied that there were heated exchanges made regarding sharing the rock.
Those reports are untrue. We have not had a verbal exchange, but I understand that negativity sells. No one wants to hear a good story. Those reports are not true. They're very false," Lebron James said.
Kyrie Irving, for his part, quipped: "As you can see, we're on opposite ends, so it means we hate each other. It was just over 'Survivor's Remorse' and 'Family Guy.' That's what it was about. Obviously he's going to feel strongly about 'Survivor's Remorse.' It's his show, but I love 'Family Guy.' So a heated exchange, words were said. No blows this time, but awesome for our team. It's great."
