Eminem has admitted that his past drug use was so severe that it could have cost him his life. Although the real Slim Shady is still alive and kicking, it would seem that his turbulent times have cost him his good looks.
Eminem recently spoke at the Wall Street Journal's Innovator of the Year Awards, which was held in New York. The 42-year-old internationally known rapper appeared to be too thin and quite haggard next to the other speakers at the event, such as Beats co-founder Jimmy Lovine and Dr. Dre.
He was dressed in his usual ensemble, with his signature beanie hat that his most of his light blonde hair. Although he looked the same as always, a closer look would reveal some prominent veins on his face. Plus, his very pale complexion did not help in concealing them.
His drug abuse reportedly started while he was filming for his film "8 Mile" in 2002. After taking an Ambien, he sought out for a prescription and became hooked on the drug. He has never denied abusing Vicodin, Ambien, and Valium.
Fortunately for the musician, after spending a lot of time in rehabilitation centers, he has managed to set his life straight and get back on track.
Still, because of the obvious changes in his appearance, the Internet has been having quite a field day over it. One Twitter user wrote, "What has Eminem done to his face? Has he taken hints from Renee?" while another posted, "'I'd say it's more surgical' - shocked fans debate Eminem's face."
One social media user wrote, "Eminem is ageing. Simple as that. Drug has use hasn't damaged his face. He's 42 years old and looks younger than most people his age."
Eminem has been actually very open about his drug abuse in the past. In the documentary "How to Make Money Selling Drugs," he mentioned that he almost died from his prescription drug addiction after he overdosed.
"Had I got to the hospital two hours later, I would have died," he shared. "My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn't think I was gonna make it."
