The animated flick debuted with an impressive $15.8M on the Friday box office, coming in second after Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar." However, new reports confirm that the animated flick has now surpassed the highly publicized sci-fi film's performance, racking a total of $56.2M (as compared to "Interstellar" full movie's $52.15M) this weekend.

It's too early to tell the fate of "Big Hero 6" movie and whether the hype can be sustained. Moviegoers are wondering whether the new Disney movie can match or even beat "Frozen's" performance. "Frozen" debuted with a whopping $67M during 2013's Thanksgiving weekend.

By the looks of it, it would take more for Baymax and the crew to surpass Queen Elsa and Anna's feat, but it has started strong and is in fact Disney's biggest non-weekend premiere.

The characters of Disney and Marvel's "Big Hero 6" include 14-year-old Hiro Hamada and his robot Baymax. Then there's Fredzilla, the daredevil Gogo Tomago, clean freak Wasabi, and barista-chemist Honey Lemon.

It definitely was a treat for those who catched the movie on its opening weekend. Majority of the moviegoers have given relatively positive reviews about it.

Sean O'Connell of Cinema Blend had this to say about "Big Hero 6" full movie, and has even recommended it as a good film for the whole family to watch.

"Big Hero 6 celebrates intelligence, creativity, scientific exploration, ingenuity and classroom camaraderie more than any other family film has in recent memory, and it's for that reason I think every parent should plan a family trip to the theater to see this gem on screen."

"That spirit of invention, that desire to construct and match wits with an enemy, propel the action in Big Hero 6 -- giving young audience members terrific role models. Better still, Big Hero 6 implies that kids watching can become these superior characters, if they dare to apply themselves. Rival on-screen heroes like Batman and Spider-Man were born of tragedy, and of coincidence."
