"American Idol" has gone through a lot of changes since the first judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, sat at the panel to launch the hit singing competition.
However, the time has come for "American Idol" to lose the last of its original judges, Randy Jackson, as he has reportedly decided that he would not be returning for the upcoming 14th season of the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Randy has been such an integral part of 'American Idol' since Day 1, both as a judge and as a mentor. He's provided great advice and support, shaping the success of so many Idols we have discovered over the years. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. Randy will always be a part of our Idol family and we hope he'll visit from time to time," Fox, Idol producers FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment said in a statement.
Randy Jackson had previously announced that he wouldn't be returning in 2013 as ratings reportedly dropped as conflict grew between former judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, according to USA Today. He had even left the show for a short period of time, but was reportedly invited back as a mentor.
The three judges that will be pushing the show for season 14 are Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
"I'm proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever," said Jackson in a statement via his publicist.
