Michael Schumacher update reveals that "Schumi's" family still remains confident about the former racer's full recovery. Meanwhile, the Formula One Legend's website has been re-launched for his fans to pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of the Ferrari representative's maiden championship.
Schumacher was involved in a near-fatal skiing accident at the French Alps in 2013, when he was on vacation with his then 14-year old son. The 45-year old motorsports legend hit his head on a rock, prompting doctors to place him in a medically induced coma, which lasted for six months.
Upon waking up in June, he had been undergoing rehabilitation, in which many doctors and close friends of Schumacher's had mixed reactions about. While some were skeptic about Schumacher making a full recovery, others were hopeful, but did say that it could take years before it could happen.
"We may assume that Schumacher can live a relatively normal life within a short period of time," Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) President Jean Todt said in an interview. "What we can say is that he will probably never again drive a formula one car."
"We know that some people can spend three, four years in rehabilitation," Dr. Jean-Francois Payen said in turn, in an interview with BBC. "It depends very much on the severity of the injury, how young and fit they are."
Michael Schumacher update reveals that despite these prognoses, "Schumi's" family is still confident that their patriarch will be able to pull through and live a normal life.
"We remain confident and hope the best for Michael. Your strength is helping us to keep supporting him," the family said in a report by SBS.com "#keepfightingmichael."
Michael Schumacher also reveals that the retired racer's website is being re-launched to pay tribute to his first championship, which happened 20 years ago.
In a report by Telegraph, Schumacher's official website (michael-schumacher.de) was launched Thursday, and will feature some of his photos, stories, and facts about his career, mainly centering on his first title on November 13, 1994.
