‘Duck Dynasty’ Is Really Not Fake? Musical Currently In The Works

It would be easier for us to believe that "Duck Dynasty," a reality show where we see the Robertson family run their duck-hunting merchandise company and show off their duck call, is fake and just for show, but it may be time for us to come to terms with the fact that it's very real.

The story of the "Duck Dynasty" stars will be coming to us in the form of a musical almost as soon as February and yes, it must be seen because it's either going to be ridiculous or eye-opening, as the cast of the show had made some cringe-worthy statements in the past regarding marriage and homosexuality.

"Jersey Boys" producer Michael David and "Newsies" director Jeff Calhoun have reportedly teamed up with the "Duck Dynasty" family to bring their story to the musical stage in Las Vegas for a 90-minute show called "The Duck Commander Family Musical," according to the New York Times.

"We've enjoyed the process of making a musical alongside the team who is interested in telling the Robertson family story from an outside perspective," Willie Robertson said in a statement, according to The Wrap.

The musical will be based on Robertson's 2012 book "The Duck Commander Family" and will reportedly feature 14 songs created by composers Steven Morris, Robert Morris and Joe Shane.

Whether it's because viewers have decided to believe that the show is fake or because of the extreme and often disturbing views of its cast members, the ratings for "Duck Dynasty" have plummeted as of late. The series' sixth season, which ended in August, reportedly averaged 3.77 viewers, which is significantly lower than the 9.16 million viewers they had for season four, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The plummeting views may have been caused by patriarch Phil Robertson's criticism of homosexuality as well. GLADD is reportedly expecting the musical to be "clouded in controversy" due to the "issue of homophobia being masked as a religious value."

"It's pretty disgusting. But it's also a reminder that Broadway is mostly about making entertainment today - not art- even if it means getting involved with a family whose members say things that offend a lot of people working on Broadway," Emanuel Azenberg told the Times.
