Victoria and David Beckham's son Romeo is definitely one of the models to watch out for. The 12-year old cutie recently signed a deal with Burberry and is now the star of their Christmas advert. The festive TV campaign is called "From London with Love" and it also featured other big names in the fashion world including Alex Dunstan, Charlotte Wiggins, Max Rendell, and Charlie France.
Romeo Beckham started modelling last year and he made his debut in Burberry's spring/summer adverts. He was joined by the brand's favorite models Cara Delevigne and Edie Campbell. This time, he is the star of Burberry's Christmas ad so he must have received a huge sum of money for this project.
There have been reports that the modelling fee of David Beckham's son Romeo reached 45,000 British pounds, or approximately 70,281 US Dollars. However, Burberry's finance director claims that she does not know anything about it.
Carol Fairweather told The Daily Mail, "I don't sign off every invoice that comes into the building, I don't make those decisions. It's not for me to comment on what arrangements were paid to Romeo." The news site also asked if Burberry chose Romeo Beckham because of his looks or because his parents are famous and influential. Unfortunately, Fairweather refuses to discuss this matter.
Now that Romeo Beckham is in the spotlight, does that threaten supermodel David Gandy? The 34-year old model was recently named as Best Model in the Spanish GQ Men of the Year Awards 2014. During that event, he was asked by The Sun what he thinks of his young competition.
Yahoo reported him saying, "Who's Romeo? Oh that's Beckham's son." Gandy added, "I think the Beckham name will have helped that one." We aren't sure if the model said that intentionally to emphasize that David Beckham's son was chosen because of his name more than his talent.
But the hunk later on complimented the young fellow. David Gandy said, "Romeo looks like a natural to me and does a wonderful job for a great British brand." He added, "He looks as though he really enjoyed himself and had fun. It would be very hard to set an age limit for models when most brands have a children's line." He must have been trained by his mother Victoria, or also known as Posh Spice, really well.
