Xbox One Price Drop: 10M Shipped Milestone, Holiday Promotion And Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Assassin's Creed Unity Sales Contribute To 2-Week Lead Over PS4 Sales,
Xbox One Price Drop. The latest reports on Microsoft's Xbox One says that 10 milllion Xbox Ones have been shipped and sales have triple since MSFT slashed its price on the new gen gaming console in what's clearly a price war between Xbox One and PS4 ahead of the holiday season.
There's no comparison between Xbox 360 and Xbox One, because the Xbox One has sold many more consolers than the Xbox 360, Microsoft's older video game console. However, looking at the new generation sales, Sony's higher than expected sales of Playstation 4 has surpassed those of the Xbox One, which dropped prices in early November.
An Xbox Wire update claimed MSFT VP Yusef Medhi as revealing PS4's rule as the No.1 selling video game console in North America is likely to come to an end. The Xbox One price cut will be a determining factor in sales comparison of the two new gen consoles. Mehdi also said, "Xbox One has led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past fortnight," citing Microsoft's internal data.
IGN reported that U.S. Xbox One sales in the U.S. has increased three times after the November price cut according to MSFT. The report continued to say, "The USD$50 price drop, which Microsoft announced on October 27, sees the Xbox One fall to USD$349 over the holiday period. The promotion will end on January 3, 2015," adding, "At the time, Microsoft noted that "regional availability and timing outside the US will vary" but this deal is not available in the UK or Australia."
Mehdi also lauded the popularity of Halo: The Master Chief Collection along with console bundles like Sunset Overdrive and Assassin's Creed Unity for contributing to the combined increase in sales afer the price cut.
"The response to this wave of blockbuster game releases and new bundles has been amazing, and sales have skyrocketed since the new price took effect on Nov. 2," Medhi was quoted as saying by Inquisitr. "Compared to the previous week, Xbox One sales in the US have more than tripled, which is exciting as more and more friends will be playing together this holiday. As we head into the busy holiday season, Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks."
