Was 'Into The Woods' star Johnny Depp drunk when he introduced one of his closest friends on stage?
Depp is known as one of the most talented and interesting artists in Hollywood. He is also acceptably eccentric in his role choices and behaviour.
However, he was even more out of this world during the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles last week.
Walking on to the stage, the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' star looked a bit uncomfortable as he walked towards his designated spot. He then examined the mic stand, fidgeting with it and commenting about it being the weirdest microphone he's ever seen.
He also revealed that he's not very good at making speeches and giving introductions. After a bit more nervous laughter and jokes, he finally blurts out, "watch, I'm going to read this thing."
'Into The Woods' star Johnny Depp started to introduce his good friend Shep Gordon and the documentary about him, 'Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon' that was being honored that night.
He tried to convey the sincere message of friendship and camaraderie for Gordon but he ended up slurring his words instead, swaying around and fidgeting on stage.
He also allegedly dropped some curse words which CBS had to black out for the live show.
"I mean, it's one of those nights," the actor muttered before being cut-off.
Despite the mishap, Gordon and Mike Myers (who directed the film) didn't mind the 'Transcendence' star's unorthodox behaviour on stage.
According to E! News, a Los Angeles Times reporter tweeted, "Backstage with Shep Gordon, Mike Myers says Johnny Depp's intro was 'very rock n' roll.' #HFA."
Benedict Cumberbatch, newly married Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as Eddie Redmayne and Jared Leto attended the awards show.
