U2 singer Bono is having a difficult week.
Just days after the rear hatch of his private jet flew off an aircraft, the U2 front man injured his arm in a Central Park cycling accident and now needs surgery, a statement on the band's official website said on Sunday, according to CNN.
The band is reportedly calling off its scheduled appearances this week on NBC's "The Tonight Show."
"It looks like we all have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it," the statement said.
It continued, "We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding."
U2 was reportedly supposed to start a weeklong gig on Fallon's show on Monday in order to promote its new record "Songs of Innocence," according to Mercury News. However, after Bono's plane incident and his recent cycling accident, it looks like U2 fans are going to have to wait to see the band in action and promoting their new track.
Bono's plane was reportedly taking the singer from Dublin to Berlin before an emergency landing had to be made. Talking to reporters on the red carpet for an awards ceremony in the German capital, Bono reportedly described the event as a "bit scary, really," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We were about 25 minutes from the airport, and there was a bang. And we thought we'd hit turbulence or maybe the landing gear was coming down. The real relief was that the particular design meant that the plan didn't decompress," stated Bono, according to NBC News.
Bono reportedly expressed concern that someone or something may have been hurt by the falling door or luggage that may have fallen.
"You know there may be a few cows or sheep in the German countryside with a very sore head. We trust the nobody was hurt because we would have heard by now, and that was actually our first concern," stated the singer.
