Law enforcement in the Ferguson area are reportedly preparing for potential protests and riots following the grand jury's decision regarding the investigation regarding the shooting of Michael Brown, according to CBS St. Louis.
The FBI is reportedly warning law enforcement agencies that violence could erupt following the decision whether or not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in the August 9 shooting of Brown, a black man, according to Fox News.
The suspected violence that may occur has brought on the concern of a supposed police officer in the Ferguson area, who has reportedly issued a warning to others in the community to "protect" their families with firearms.
"If you do not have a gun, get one and get one soon. We will not be able to protect you or your family. It will be your responsibility to protect them. Our gutless commanders and politicians have neutered us. I'm serious, get a fun, get more than one, and keep one with you at all times," one commenter on the "St. Louis Coptalk" forum under the name "A Concerned Cop" wrote, according to Vocative.
The St. Louis County prosecutor has reportedly stated that he expects the grand jury to reach a decision regarding the Michael Brown shooting case in mid-to-late November.
"The announcement of the grand jury's decision will likely be exploited by some individuals to justify threats and attacks against law enforcement and critical infrastructure," the FBI said in a bulletin issued on Friday.
The FBI continued, "This also poses a threat to those civilians engaged in lawful or otherwise constitutional protected activities."
The FBI bulletin also reportedly emphasized the "importance of remaining aware of the protections afforded to all the U.S. persons exercising their First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly."
"The FBI assesses those infiltrating and exploiting otherwise legitimate public demonstrations with the intent to incite and engage in violence could be armed with bladed weapons or firearms, equipped with tactical gear/gas masks, or bulletproof vests to mitigate law enforcement measures," the bulletin continued.
