"House' actor Hugh Laurie has been tapped to join the cast of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' comedy "Veep."
The two-time Golden Globe winner and six-time Emmy nominee will be appearing on multiple episodes starting and next year, according to TV Line.
At present, Laurie's role has not yet been disclosed by the show's executives but he will definitely be given a role that would have a huge impact on the show.
Additionally, multiple sources revealed that he is currently shooting at a studio in Maryland for the show's upcoming fourth season, My FOX DC reported.
On Thursday morning, Laurie confirmed the news to his thousands of followers on Twitter and wrote, "Seems that cat's out of the wet paper bag. I'm doing some episodes of Veep with the funniest and best cast on TV. I have not been fired."
Fans of Laurie have expressed their excitement over the actors news and have tweeted his post thousands of times.
Last season, Dreyfus' character, Selina Meyer, became the leader of the free world, at the time POTUS resigned to take better care of his wife, Entertainment Weekly's Inside TV reported.
Meanwhile, Baltimore Media Blog speculated that Laurie may be taking on the role of Meyers' campaign manager, but it was later on confirmed that the role was given to Anna Chlumsky's character, Amy.
"Veep" casts other famous celebrities including Tony Hale, Reid Scott, Annna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Timothy Simons, Sufe Bradshaw, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson. Some guest stars who have joined the series include Jessia St. Clair, Kate Burton, Christopher Meloni and Kathy Najimy.
Laurie, who spent eight seasons playing the role of Dr. House on the series, received countless recognition for his work on the show, E! News noted.
Other than this, he has also worked and teamed with Stephen Fry for "Fry and Laurie" and a whole lot more.
