19-year-old Maria Jose Alvarado, a 2014 Miss World Contestant, and her sister Sofia, were buried in two cement graves in a tiny cemetery in the hamlet of Gualjoco, north of their home town of Santa Barbara, according to the Irish Independent.

Police reportedly believe that Plutarco Ruiz, Sofia's boyfriend, shot and killed the elder sister in a fit of jealousy after seeing her dancing with another person and then shot the 2014 Miss World Contestant before burying their bodies near a river int he mountainous region in Western Honduras, according to Today Online.

Police reportedly found the women's bodies because Aris Maldonado, who is believed to be an employee of Ruiz, told the police that he helped him bury them. Ruiz appeared before a judge on Thursday and was reportedly formally charged, an official at the attorney general's office stated.

The mother of the two women were reportedly seen weeping as she kissed the two closed coffins before they were buried.

"We are going to miss you; you will live in our hearts forever. You have gone to reunite with our father in heaven. He awaits you and will care for you there," stated Corina Alvarado, the victims' eldest sister.

She continued, "Only God can punish those killers as they deserved."

Maria Jose, also known as Miss Honduras, was reportedly supposed to travel to London this week as a contestant for the 2014 Miss World beauty pageant. Contest organizers reportedly issued a statement saying that they were devastated, and planned a special service on Sunday to remember the sisters and pray for the family.

The mayor of Santa Barbara reportedly arranged for two plastic tents to shelter mourners from the rain outside the Alvarados' home.

"This is going to put an end to the normal life of the town. It means the end of freedom for young women," stated Mayor Juan Alvarado, who is not related to the family.

She added, "Parents are not going to let them leave home on their own anymore. The image of Santa Barbara and of Honduras has been stained forever by this horrible crime."
