Eva Mendes's baby's name is finally explained, along with plenty of reveals during the "Sin City" actor's secretive pregnancy.

The story behind Eva Mendes's baby's name is finally told, months after she and hubby Ryan Gosling practically kept their silence on everything related to the pregnancy. The "Ghost Rider" star was finally candid in an interview with digital magazine The Violet Files.

Mendes talks about their two-month old baby Esmeralda's name, and her reason for choosing it was short and sweet.

"We were really excited about naming her. We both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' and just think it's a beautiful name. Her middle is Amada, which was my grandmother's name. It means 'beloved' in Spanish."

Eva had a lot to say about her role as a new mother, though. She's pretty hands on with mommy duties, and is yet to consider hiring a nanny to help her out.

"I'm completely exhausted. I thought my wild nights were over but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had.

I try not to Google too many things because it is frightening, but I do go to babycenter.com and read the comment sections from other mothers because I find so much solace in that. Just knowing that I'm not alone out there and that other moms have gone through the same thing can at least get me through the night."

Regarding her pregnancy, Eva explains she spent time with her family, succeeding in flying under the radar (almost) the entire time she was expecting.

"I have eight nieces and nephews, so my brothers and sisters know a thing or two about what to expect when you're expecting," she noted. "I have a very tight-knit family and the pregnancy brought us even closer together."

Eva's parenting style starts with empathy, saying "motherhood is cake" compared to what it's like to be a baby.
