Floyd Mayweather news reveals that "The Money Team" responded to Manny Pacquiao's recent challenge to finally make the highly anticipated mega fight happen. Floyd Sr., who spoke on behalf of the entire Mayweather camp, however, still gave an open-ended response.
Following Manny Pacquiao's resounding victory over former WBO light welterweight champion on Saturday night in Macau, China, the eight-division world champion issued a challenge to his long-time paper rival during the post-fight interview with HBO Boxing analyst Max Kellerman.
This conversation was then carried over during the post-fight press conference in front of the hundreds of media men in attendance, with the discussion led by veteran promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions.
"Frankly, we're tired. I say, enough is enough, let's just make the fight happen." Arum said in a report by Bloody Elbow, "Let's get it done as the next fight for each fighter some time in the first six months of next year. That's our position, and we are going to try to make it happen."
Floyd Mayweather news reveals that the 82-year old promoter has left the final decision up to the Mayweather camp.
"Just answer the telephone. It's as simple as that. I think that fight should happen. For boxing to be considered as a major sport, the fight has to happen. All the nonsense has to cease, and everybody should be working together to make that fight happen," Arum added. "There's no excuses anymore. None!"
Floyd Mayweather news also reveals that two days after Pacquiao and Arum's statements were made, "The Money Team" responded through the pound-for-pound king's own father, Floyd Sr.
In a report by Philippine sports media outlet ABS-CBN Sports, the elder Mayweather first critcized Algieri's performance, despite admitting that he had not seen the fight.
"I want to be honest with you, I didn't even see it," Mayweather Sr. said. "The guy just ran, and the guy got knocked down six or seven times."
However, Mayweather Sr. still gave an open-ended answer when he was asked about stepping up to Pacquiao's challenge and make the fight happen.
"Well, when it come, it come, when it don't come, it don't come [sic]," he said. "Manny is his own man, Floyd is his own man."
