Obama Thanksgiving 2014 Dessert Menu: Cherry Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Apple Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie, Pres. Picks Up Tab

Reports from Washington DC say President Barack Obama spent Thanksgiving at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The President, Michele Sasha, Malia, Bo and Sunny dined on turkey and other staples of the Thanksgiving meal, including six kinds of pie.

In a Thanksgiving address to the nation, President Obama said, "On behalf of the Obama family, I want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving," quoted a report by The Huffington Post, adding "Like many of you, we'll spend the day with family and friends, catching up, eating some good food and watching a little football. Before we lift a fork, we lend a hand by going out into the community to serve some of our neighbors in need. And we give thanks for each other, and for all of God's blessings."

According to the White House press office: the Obama Thanksgiving meal will be comprised of:

Thyme Roasted Turkey Cornbread Stuffing,Honey-Baked Ham, Oyster Stuffing, Sweet Potato Gratin, Braised Winter Greens
Macaroni and Cheese, Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, and Dinner Rolls

Dessert included several kinds of pie including Cherry Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Apple Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie

The report also mentioned that the President will have to pick up the tab for the Thanksgiving meal as he does for any average day. The tradition goes back to 1800 , when there were no Presidential staff and President John Adams brought staff in for Thanksgiving and paid the bill. Eventually, this became an established practice.

The chief White House usher at the White House for several years, Gary Walters, said the payment system has remained with the President paying for any extra orders.
