Noah the dog saved his family from a gunman in a road rage incident outside an Atlanta strip mall, witnesses say, according to Fox News.
Hobart Austin reportedly told police that he got into an argument with the driver of a Ford Taurus that nearly hit the vehicle he was riding, according to the Atlantic-Journal Constitution. The driver reportedly followed Austin to a strip mall on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, where Austin was dropped off, and threatened to shoot, eventually opening fire, stated Sgt. Greg Lyon.
Although Austin was reportedly not injured by the gunman, the bullets hit a Chevrolet Suburban that was occupied by a family. There were at least three children in the vehicle, along with their mother, and the dog that saved his family, according to the news outlet Kens5.
"They hit the back of his car [with bullets]," stated the victim.
He added, "The dog, I guess, jumped in front of the bullet to save one of the children and the wife."
Witnesses reportedly told WXIA that the dog jumped in front of one of the children and was struck with a bullet.
"The dog took the bullet for the kids so the kids would be safe," stated one of the people who was at the scene.
Although Noah saved his family from the gunman, the dog had reportedly been mortally wounded and later died behind a building.
"They were fired upon and their family was terrorized," stated Lyon.
He continued, "They survived that only to find that their pet is now gone. It's sad for the whole family, especially the day after Thanksgiving."
