News reports surrounding Jeremy Lin have been divided. But as the possibility of reviving "Linsanity" is pretty much becoming a pipe dream, the point guard is actually having a "quiet" career year with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Hoops Habit dished on the Jeremy Lin news, which has been overshadowed by Kobe Bryant's futile attempts to launch bombs from anywhere in the court.
While the point guard isn't quite at the Linsanity level in New York Knicks, "that's not necessarily a bad thing."
"Lin is playing a much smarter game than he has in the past and he's being a lot more choosy about the shots he's taking. It's no coincidence that he's putting up career highs in field goal shooting (.490), 3-point shooting (.383) and effective field goal percentage (.552)," it said.
Where Jeremy Lin improved is his midrange game as data revealed that he boosted all his numbers across the board.
"For shots over 10 feet when the defender is 4-to-6 feet away, he's shooting 62.5 percent. When he's truly wide open (defender more than 6 feet away), he's shooting 50 percent," it said, which means that Jeremy Lin is maximizing his time on the court playing off ball.
Mike Garcia of Lake Show Life noted that Jeremy Lin was very effective in the Lakers' loss to the Minnesotta Timberwolves.
Although it "wasn't his most explosive performance, but was the best of his shot selection, playmaking abilities, jumpshooting, and attacking in the paint."
"Best of all, he played his game. The Lakers ran multiple pick-and-roll situations early in the shot clock. This led to several dunks for Jordan Hill, along with points in the paint by Jeremy Lin himself. LaVine got screened off easily and Lin used the lanes effectively," he said.
The website said that Jeremy Lin doesn't have to bring Linsanity to the Lakers, but he needs to do the same thing on the road for the team to string a couple of wins and perhaps, salvage this season.
