Twitter floods with backlash after Rupert Murdoch defense: "Exodus: Gods and Kings" racist with an all-white cast?

Rupert Murdoch defends "Exodus: Gods and Kings" racist allegations, and receives an overwhelming backlash of comments. Murdoch's tweet addressed previous comments on the film's "all-white" cast.

Murdoch's tweet was short and blunt, but it was enough to re-ignite the fire of anti-racist comments, which has been ongoing since "Exodus: Gods and Kings" cast was confirmed.

"Moses film attacked on Twitter for all white cast. Since when are Egyptians not white? All I know are."

Murdoch's tweet is riddled with criticism after a series of comments on race and cultural diversity, especially on film. One user insisted "More diversity doesn't come from all white casting @rupertmurdoch. That's not how this works." (deadline.com)

The "Exodus: Gods and Kings" racist allegations plagued the movie in previous months, prompting director to Ridley Scott's to respond in defense:

"I can't mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such...I'm just not going to get it financed. So the question doesn't even come up." (variety.com)

Christian Bale heads the "Exodus: Gods and Kings" cast as Moses, with Joel Edgerton (Ramses), Aaron Paul (Joshua), and Sigourney Weaver (Tuya), among others.

Christian Bale complimented Ridley Scott as film director, also his team of long-time collaborators.

"There's no doubt about who's in charge and who has the final say, but there's a nice sense of collaboration, even on a film as large as this. Usually, collaboration is inversely proportional to the size of the film, in my experience."

On Ridley's respond to the issue that "Exodus: Gods and Kings" cast is white, Bale's comment on the director's work ethic offered a hint.

"You're probably going to be sitting down, so you're not going to get a proper sense of him. You've got to see Rid on the move to understand him. He's totally kinetic. I'm absolutely sure he springs out of bed at 10 times the speed I do."

"Exodus: Gods and Kings" release date runs throughout December 2014 to January 2015.
